We offer several licensed, foreign trade-related databases in our own FIW Data Query Tool. Access to the FIW Data Query Tool and the integrated databases is restricted to a specific user group and password-protected.
The data query tool contains the following databases:

For licensing reasons, it is unfortunately not possible within the FIW project to grant free access to the password-protected databases to all interested parties. However, a great deal of data can be accessed by all in the “Free Access” area.
To access the databases from the password-protected area, you must be a member of one of the following Austrian institutions:
- Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences
- Austrian federal ministries
- Austrian Federation of Industry (IV)
- Österreichische Nationalbank (OeNB)
- Chamber of Labor (AK)
- Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB)
- Presidents Conference of the Chamber of Agriculture
- social partnership and scientific institutions on request
- Austrian students at foreign universities on request
Access & Registration
If you want to get access to the FIW data query tool and belong to the user group, please send a request to fiw-pb@fiw.ac.at with the following information:
- Name, CV, contact details
- associated institution
- Research subject and planned publication type
- Databases required

In order to access the databases from the password-protected area, it is a prerequisite that you fall within the sponsored user group of the FIW project.
The data available on this data server originates from various Austrian and international data providers, it is the sole property of these providers and protected by international copyright law.
You agree not to redistribute the used data in any form (commercial, gratuitous or otherwise). You are exclusively entitled to use the data for private or other personal purposes. Any other form of use requires the explicit written consent of the data providers concerned.
WIFO, wiiw, WSR and the data providers do not guarantee the accuracy and completeness of the databases and cannot be held liable for this. Under no circumstances shall WIFO, wiiw, WSR, the data providers or any other person involved in the transmission be liable to you for any damages you may suffer as a result of the use of the data, whether consequential, accidental, directly or indirectly related to the use of the data.
