DESCRIPTION:The Research Centre International Economics - FIW announces its 17th Resear
 ch Conference ‘International Economics’ and invites the submission of (
 full) working papers to be presented at the conference. The main objective 
 of the conference is to provide a platform for economists working in the fi
 eld of ‘International Economics’ to present recent research. Papers fro
 m Ph.D. students\, young faculty members and young researchers in similar p
 ositions are particularly welcome as the conference aims to support and enc
 ourage young economists by providing an opportunity to present their work t
 o fellow junior economists as well as experienced senior researchers. The c
 onference also aims at bringing together researchers and policy makers to p
 rovide a forum for discussion on how empirical evidence can more effectivel

 sor Meredith Crowley (Unviersity of Cambridge) Meredith A. Crowley is a Pro
 fessor and Deputy Chair of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ca
 mbridge\, Fellow of St. John’s College\, and a Research Coordinator at th
 e Janeway Institute at Cambridge. She is President of the International Eco
 nomics and Finance Society\, a co-investigator of the publicly-funded Centr
 e for Inclusive Trade Policy\, a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic
  Policy Research (CEPR - London)\, and a member of the Scientific Advisory 
 Councils of CEPII and the Kiel Institute. Her research on international tra
 de\, multinational trade agreements\, and trade policy has appeared in nume
 rous peer-reviewed journals including the American Economic Review\, the Ca
 nadian Journal of Economics\, the European Journal of Political Economy\, t
 he Journal of Development Economics\, the Journal of International Economic
 s and World Trade Review. She has over 100 media citations or appearances\,
  including the BBC\, The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, The Financi
 al Times\, The Economist\, The Guardian\, The Telegraph\, and The Times.  
  KEYNOTE LECTURE II: Europe and the world economy  <p class="campl-sub-titl
 e">February 21\, 2025\, 15:30 p.m. Philip Lane (ECB) <p class="campl-sub-ti
 tle">Philip R. Lane joined the European Central Bank as a Member of the Exe
 cutive Board in 2019. He is responsible for the Directorate General Economi
 cs and the Directorate General Monetary Policy. Before joining the ECB\, he
  was the Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland. He has also chaired the A
 dvisory Scientific Committee and Advisory Technical Committee of the Europe
 an Systemic Risk Board and was Whately Professor of Political Economy at Tr
 inity College Dublin. He is also a research fellow at the Centre for Econom
 ic Policy Research. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin\, he was awarded a
  PhD in Economics from Harvard University in 1995 and was Assistant Profess
 or of Economics and International Affairs at Columbia University from 1995 
 to 1997\, before returning to Dublin. In 2001 he was the inaugural recipien
 t of the Bernácer Prize for outstanding contributions to European monetary

 e awarded - the ‘Best Conference Paper Award 25’ and the ‘Young Econo
 mist Award 25’. Each award is worth € 1000. The "Young Economist Award
 " has been awarded to Edoardo Tolva for his paper "Oligopolies in Trade and
  Transportation: Implications for the Gains from Trade". The "Best Paper Aw
 ard" for the best contribution to this year's conference went to Toshiaki K
 omatsu (with co-author Emmanuel Dhyne) for the paper "Job Ladder and Dynami
 c Monopsony in Pro-production Networks". The ‘Young Economist Award 25’
  is intended for Ph.D. students\, young faculty members and young researche
 rs in similar positions. To be considered for this award all authors of the
  paper have to be 34 or younger at the time of submission. TOPICS COVERED T
