Das Jahr 2020 wurde vom Ausbruch und der globalen Verbreitung von COVID 19 gepr\u00e4gt. Obwohl in den ersten beiden Kalendermonaten Europa direkt nicht stark von der Ausbreitung des Virus betroffen war, litten die europ\u00e4ischen Wertsch\u00f6pfungsketten bereits durch Produktions- und Lieferausf\u00e4lle in und aus Asien \u2013 allen voran China. Ab Mitte Februar breitete sich die Pandemie \u00fcber Europa und die USA aus. Die Politik musste mit gesundheitspolitischen Ma\u00dfnahmen reagieren, die vor allem die Bewegungs- und Verkehrsfreiheit massiv einschr\u00e4nkten und somit gro\u00dfe Teile des Wirtschaftslebens zum Stillstand brachten. \u00d6konomisch betrachtet, f\u00fchrte die COVID 19 Pandemie zu einem wirtschaftlichen Abschwung in einem Ausma\u00df, welches man seit dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs nicht mehr beobachten musste. Die OECD rechnet mit einem R\u00fcckgang des weltweiten Bruttoinlandsproduktes (BIP) um 4,3% im Vergleich zu 2019.
