The main objective of the conference is to provide a platform for economists working in the field of \u2018International Economics\u2019 to present recent research. Papers from Ph.D. students, young faculty members and young researchers in similar positions are particularly welcome as the conference aims to support and encourage young economists by providing an opportunity to present their work to fellow junior economists as well as experienced senior researchers. The conference also aims at bringing together researchers and policy makers to provide a forum for discussion on how empirical evidence can more effectively inform actual economic policy making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TIME &amp; LOCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 16<sup>th<\/sup> FIW Research Conference on \u2018International Economics\u2019 will take place on <strong>Thursday, 22<sup>nd<\/sup> February 2024 <\/strong>and <strong>Friday, 23<sup>rd<\/sup> February 2024<\/strong> at the <strong>Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna), Welthandelsplatz 1, 1020 Vienna.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PAPER SUBMISSION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite the submission of (full) working papers on all topics in the field of International Economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please submit your working papers via <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/conference2024.fiw.ac.at\"><strong><em>https:\/\/conference2024.fiw.ac.at<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em><br><\/em><\/strong><strong>until 30<sup>th<\/sup> October 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selection decisions will be communicated in December 2023. Uploaded submissions can be updated until the end of the extended deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two prizes for the best contributions to the Research Conference will be awarded &#8211; the\u2018<strong>Best Conference Paper Award 24\u2019<\/strong> and the <strong>\u2018Young Economist Award 24\u2019<\/strong>. Each award is worth \u20ac 1000.<br>The \u2018Young Economist Award 24\u2019 is intended for Ph.D. students, young faculty members and young researchers in similar positions. To be considered for this award all authors of the paper have to be 34 or younger at the time of submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TOPICS COVERED <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The broad topic of the conference is \u2018International Economics\u2019. This includes, inter alia, International Trade, International Factor Movements, Economic Integration, Effects of international economic activities on Climate Change, Trade Policy, International Trade Organizations, Economic Growth of Open Economies, Multinational Firms, Global Value Chains, International Macroeconomics and other related fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a><strong><span style=\"color: #020202;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">ORGANISATION<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 16<sup>th<\/sup> FIW-Research Conference \u2018International Economics is organized by FIW with support from the Program Committee and the Austrian Federal Ministries for Education Science and Research (BMBFW) and Labour and Economy (BMAW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ABOUT FIW<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FIW &#8211; Research Centre International Economics (https:\/\/www.fiw.ac.at) is a cooperation between the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU), the University Vienna, the Johannes Kepler University Linz and the University of Innsbruck, WIFO, wiiw and WSR.
